Artist's Comments

My fiance is in the USMC and is currently stationed at Camp Lejeune in NC, 600 miles away from me.
I feel really fortunate that he's not overseas at the moment, and that I'm able to talk to him everyday, though I'm not able to see him very often. But not all of us who's significant others are Marines are that lucky. Many of us are struggling through the deployments of our loved ones to dangerous places, not knowing when the next time we'll hear their voices again will be, or, god forbid, if we'll hear their voices again. We cling to the hope that someone is watching over our men, keeping them out of harms way. We spend lonely nights awake in bed, wishing they could be here to hold us, and tell us that it will all be ok, and we count down the days till we can be in their arms again.
You'd think all of this hardship would beat us down, cause us to turn around and say "I can't do this anymore." But in reality, I've never met a stronger group of women then the ones who call themselves Marine Corps Wives, Fiances and Girlfriends, and I'm glad to be counted among them.

My husband just left for Paris Island, SC. Three months seems like such a long time, I'm praying for an accompanied tour. I fancy an adventure together rather than me being left behind again. I like this picture a lot.

Nice to know, no, wonderful to know - just how much you love us. We miss you as much as you miss us.

Love to all of you,

~A Corporal of Marines, who has a lovely wife as well who waits up for him, and watches for him when he leaves.

My fiance just left for Parris Island two days ago. This picture is wonderful. Hopefully you won't mind if I include it in a Marines tribute on Youtube.
